My Account

From PsyHelp

Jump to: navigation, search

This is the place where you can change all sorts of things about your account, like what people see when they search for you to what your password is. Most of what you can do on here is pretty self-explanatory, but I'll give a little brief statement on what each section does anyway, in case someone doesn't understand.

Resident Profile

Edit your profile, avatar, and privacy settings here.

This is the place to edit what your profile displays, the avatar that you use on The Plaza, and the formatting that begins all the text on your PsyMail and Plaza posts. You can also set basic privacy settings on here. Those are:

  • Public Friends
  • Profile Comments
  • Profile Item Options
  • Whether or not you want people on The Plaza to know you've donated to Psypets

Searchable Profile

Create and edit your searchable profile here. Once created, other residents will be able to find you using the Resident Directory.

Basically, just fill in the little boxes with what they tell you: age, gender, location, your website, and screen names. Unless of course you don't want to. It's all optional. Or even better, you could just uncheck the little box that asks whether or not you want other users searching for you if you wish to do so. That way you wont be in the Resident Directory, so if anyone wants to find you, they can't. Keep that air of mystery about yourself.

Display Settings

Change visual settings, disable graphic smilies, alter your time-zone, etc.

  • Site Display
    • Font Size- Changes the font size of the words on the site.
    • Theme- Changes the color of the site layout. Telkoth.net is the default. For the most popular ones as of June 26 2007 go here [1]
    • Beginner Mode- Uncheck if you don't want helpful things told to you
    • Graphical Smilies- Uncheck if you don't want to see smilies on the site
    • Font Formatting- If you don't want to see all the colors people use via the PsyPets markup in The Plaza on their fonts, uncheck this box
  • Time Zone Settings- Change your Time Zone and let the site know whether you are saving daylight so that your time shows up correctly
  • Pet Display
    • Columns- Select how many columns of pets are shown in your house
    • Sorting Arrows- If you have no use for the arrows below your pets that let you sort them instead of clicking "Rearrange Pets" and moving them around there.
    • EXP Bar- Changes how you see the experience bars for your pets, so that it will display only the red progress bar, only the percent, or both at once
  • Inventory Display
    • Columns-Select how many columns of items you see in your house, but only while using icon view
    • Backlight New Items- Will tint the row of an item in details view or the cell of an item in icon view when it is moved
    • Hover Information Box- Icon Display Only. Controls whether or not you want the details of an item to show up when you hold the mouse over the item
    • Show Meal Size- If you don't want the meal size of food to show up when you over over the food item. This only applies to your house and storage.

Behavior Settings

Change behavior settings.

This one only has three options: to change whether inventory images link to the Psypets encyclopedia; to disable or enable moving to the room you moved an item to; to see random tips each time you log in (these are mostly helpful to newer users).

Acount Management

Change your password or e-mail address, go into vacation mode, or even delete your account.

This is where you change your password and email address if you need to. You can also put your account in Vacation Mode. Finally, this is where you can delete your account, but be careful in doing that, since you can't get your account back if you do. Only delete if you're really sure you want to.

Payments and Favors

View the donations credited to your account, and favors you have received.

If you've donated to the site, this is where to see how much you've given and how many favors you have.

Content Control

Settings for parents that want to lock out certain aspects of the site from their child.

This option is for parents who would like their children to enjoy Psypets, but not suffer a loss of innocence from it. The page can be password protected by entering a password in the password box on that page. Currently there is no way to pick and choose what is blocked and what is not; everything on the list on the page is all locked out if the "Toggle" button is pressed. Those things are as followed:

  • The Plaza
  • Favorite Threads
  • Groups
  • My Groups
  • Advertising
  • Directory
  • player profile pages
  • ability to change e-mail address of the account

To tell if you have properly child-proofed your account, check the indication on the page that says: "Child Lock-out Status: DISABLED/ENABLED"

Tools

Favor Dispenser

The Favor Dispenser can hand out some of the more common favor requests for you instantly, assuming you have some "favors" left in your name.

This is where you can get special things if you have favors. Favors can be obtained by donating to the site- $5 gets you one favor. You can do many things at the Favor Dispenser, including bringing a pet back from the dead, getting custom graphics and items, and changing your name.

Graphics Library

A few of the Favor Dispenser's functions require a graphic. In these cases, graphics are provided by the Graphics Library. Anyone who has donated to PsyPets may upload graphics to the Graphics Library, either for public or private use.

This is where the graphics abailable for puclic use are displayed. If you have an unused favor, you can take any of the graphics diplayed here and use them exclusively for yourself. But only if you have an unused favor. Otherwise, that's stealing, and that just ain't right.

Login History

Gives you information about your last several logins. If you suspect someone else may be logging in to your account this could be helpful.

Pretty self-explanatory. Just tells you the last couple of days worth of logins on your account and what IP address you logged on from.
