- When Ben(That Guy Ben) talks the text is normal, but when Hector(hecklee) talks the text is bold.
- Actual e-mails are surrounded in brackets ([]) to prevent confusion.
Today, Hector is here. I don’t know if you… a long time ago he used to read read e-mails and I would think about them and respond, so I guess we’re going to do that again. And I guess. . . he also want to go through Game Ideas? So, we’ll figure something out. I’m going to start recording. I don’t really have anything to talk about beforehand. I added dazzle cloak that everyone already knows about. Dazzle Camouflage so there’s no reason to really… ramble about that. Get everything set up here . . . where are we going? Community, Plaza. Yeah, Dazzle Camouflage.
Mmk. What is Dazzle Camouflage? Sure, we can talk about Dazzle Camouflage. It’s an interesting idea, it’s on Wikipedia, I think some people already looked there. It’s actually really cool, and I honestly don’t remember now, who was bugging me, “Do dazzle Camouflage, do barnacle geese.” I’m sure she can e-mail during the broadcast and be like, “It was me Ben why do you forget?” But Dazzle Camouflage, it’s not really meant to actually hide the, the, thing with the Dazzle Camouflage on it, it’s meant for ships, boats, and it’s meant to confuse people looking at it as to what direction the boat is moving and how fast and things like that and for some reason the pattern does this. And I guess over the coarse of World War I and World War II, people we’re saying it’s effective, and people were saying it’s not effective, or vice versa, and it has become decreasingly important with things like radar, and other methods, to, you know, locate ships and determine how fast they’re going. But you know, it’s a fun sort of thing, so I don’t think it’s practical to have on cloaks, but you know, that’s PsyPets. Anyway, let’s get, fine, where’s the e-mail?
It’s looks like a bunch of people are sending things in, so I guess I’ll hand the microphone over to Hector, we’ll go back and forth here. Whoops! Sorry, dropped the microphone.
I’ll try and hang on to the microphone like before and just hold it in front of his face when needed, let’s go. Start from the bottom.
Mmk, AndAliceSays. No, that’s from last time. Last time? Start with Shalydra.
Shalydra. Are we good? [Greetings Ben! I’ve been really enjoying playing and testing The Ruins Of, I’m wondering when you will be implementing a feature like this, the live broadcast thing, specifically aimed at The Ruins Of. So you can ramble on about it longer and leave more time for the PsyPets for actual PsyPets stuff.] That would certainly be… fun. It probably will happen when the game is more complete in general, there are a lot of other things to worry about in The Ruins Of, rather than a broadcast, so maybe I should start up immediately and people would turn up interested. I don’t really know, I mean I had a similar thing for Towers Of Babel, but so few people play, that we got very few mail, very few e-mails, and I kind of feel like the same thing would happen for The Ruins Of, at least for now. But no, it is certainly something I can do in the future; we’ll see how it goes. So anyway, let’s see what’s next.
I noticed in the e-mails, the mail indicates male or female, are you more likely to answer the female question than the male questions? No no! People were upset because I was getting gender confused, and I said I can fix that easy, as long as you’ve specified your gender, it’ll tack it on, so yeah, now it tells me. I can use proper pronouns.
Fine, from Rika, a female. [Is it true Ben? Person Dx mentioned this in the last broadcast, some of the things seem to be weeded out of the broadcast, or are never mentioned, last time I sent in a question which one would you pick if you were set near money, book, or bread, and It never came up in the broadcast. I was wondering if some of the question were somehow weeded out.]
Some of the questions are kind of weeded out, he already says he doesn’t answer non-PsyPets related questions, even though you answer a lot of those anyways, but you know, like “You’re awesome Ben!” “You suck Ben!” Those aren’t going to be read. So don’t start anything like that, we just skip to the next one. And I remember seeing this particular question, I think at the time I just went, skip to something more… PsyPets related, but maybe people want this? Maybe I’m supossed to answer those, I don’t know. I looked at it and thought… well, whatever, but I do remember seeing it, if theres any weeding out it’s on my end I don’t think there should be any trouble with mail getting through. It’s shouldn’t be a problem on the server, unless maybe you tried to send it in right as maintenance came in or something weird like that. Anyway, yeah, that’s what happens.
Alright, next. FreezeairSilverEye, a female, which actually that name strikes me as masculine. Same here, that was the name I got confused about and that’s what started this whole thing, but anyway. Yeah I’m sorry, but maybe you should mark yourself as ‘Pretty Female’ or ‘Ugly Female’. That’d be even better. No, that’s not nice.
Anyway, FreezeairSilverEye asks [I’ve always wondered when we make a custom pet, would we be allowed to use other graphics from the site, say the sword or one of the monsters in the dungeon or menagerie as out pet. I like a couple of them, but they are not official pets. Speaking of monsters, what the blankity-blank-bank?] I’m not even sure if that’s cussing or not, [is the sinasassapel creature from the menagerie supposed to be?] Alright, first, for uploading graphics from the graphics library, there are two ways you can upload a graphic, it can be a graphic that you created, or it can be a graphic from the public domain. Any of the graphics used on PsyPets are neither of them. So you shouldn’t upload any PsyPets graphic for use in PsyPets. I’ve thought about making something to let people use an existing graphic, or maybe a re-colored version that they do the only reason I don’t want to do that is I don’t want people to pay five dollars and then later on I make it a standard graphic or something like that, which is entirely likely. I think one time there was a monster graphic and people were like that’s so cute! It should be a, you know, standard pet and so I did it, and if someone had previously paid five dollars for that, that’s kind of weird. So, I just want to avoid the trouble all together. A sword? Oh so you’re talking about the hungry sword thing, I would probably never made that as a pet. I would prefer to avoid confusion, yeah don’t upload graphics if you don’t own them, or they’re not in the public domain. I’ll remove them. For some people, they have asked, can I do this pet? And I tell them, you know, there is the chance that again it will become standard. But for some cases I let people do it and I go and put the graphic in there manually, so I kind of hack it in so it can show me as the owner, and everything else. And the other thing the sinasapel, and I know I am pronouncing this wrong it’s something from some onther language and I think it really means orange in some other weird laguguage, and I was just trying to come up with some weird monster, and so I made that funky thing with an orange tree on it’s back.
