Notes

  • Introduced into the game on April 9 2008 by That Guy Ben with the following statement:
it's the truth! it's factual! you can get it from the daily challenge shop, either for 5 Copper Tokens or 1 Gold Token. it is easy to make.
I know people wanted to be able to feed it flowers, but the problem with flowers is that you can just go to the florist and buy them. so... you feed it something else instead, but I'm not telling what, 'cause I'm an evil bastard like that.
the apiary is kind of a very different house add-on... as you feed it, it produces various things all at once (at rates depending upon what exactly you feed it). one of the things it can "produce" is a level... yes, the apiary levels up. it ranges from levels 1 to 4. you can feed it more often at higher levels, and it produces additional things at higher levels.
the apiary may later be expanded to allow you to feed it other things, produce other things, or have additional levels - we'll see how people respond to what I've put in place, and go from there
have fun!
  • On May 31 2008, Ben added the Bee Wand and updated the apiary to allow feeding of all flowers:
it now takes all the normal flowers - though be warned that they are very inefficient in terms of exp, etc. it now also takes white and black lotuses, for crazy amounts of exp.
I've also made the apiary max at level 5 now, instead of 4. at 5, it can make a new item, which the added flowers are good at making (in fact, clovers won't help you make this new item at all).
  • For those not "Down" with the lingo, "an Apiary (also known as a bee yard) is a place where beehives of honey bees are kept." (Wikipedia)
  • The original Sugar graphic was changed to a honey graphic at some point however you still get sugar when harvested.
